Consultant Upper GI and Bariatric Surgeon
Mr Nageswaran is a general surgeon specialising in the upper gastrointestinal tract with particular interest in obesity and metabolic surgery. He is a member of the Association of Upper GI Surgeons and British Obesity & Metabolic Surgery Society.
Mr Nageswaran provides outstanding care in the following procedures:
Weight loss surgery
Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, gastric banding and Gastric Balloons including the Allurion System.
Only experienced, fully trained Bariatric Surgeons should perform weight loss surgery. Mr Nageswaran is the Verve Health Group consultant for Wales. He is working to increase the provision of private and NHS weight loss surgery in South Wales and continues to be engaged in academic and research activities. He is an Allurion (Elipse) balloon and Saxenda medication specialist.

Mr Nageswaran works in the general surgery department of Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, where he performs clinical activities at multiple sites across the southeast of Wales and carries out emergency work at the Grange University Hospital.
He qualified from medical school at University College London, where he also completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. After his junior doctor posts in London and the Southwest of England, he completed surgical training in Wales. He has a postgraduate degree in Medical Education from Bristol University and has undertaken research into the capture and mutational analysis of circulating tumour cells at the University of Surrey which earned him an MD degree. Prior to his consultant appointment, he completed the Royal College of Surgeons’ specialist Bariatric Surgery fellowship at North Bristol NHS Trust.
Outside of work, when not cleaning up after his baby boy, he likes long walks in the Welsh hills and tinkering in his workshop playing at carpentry.
